At the JESD Governing Board meeting on January 15, 2025, the Board approved a motion to hold a study session on March 12, 2025, to discuss how to best allocate resources and structure programs at JESD in future years. During the March 12, 2025 Special Study Session, the Board of Trustees provided direction to Superintendent Mikulik to convene a Budget & Facilities Superintendent's Advisory Committee. The purpose of this committee is to determine how to best allocate resources and structure programs given declining enrollment in JESD.
This Spring, we will be seeking the interest of staff and community members to participate on the existing Superintendent’s Budget and Facilities Superintendent's Advisory Committee, which currently includes JESD budgetary and facilities experts and two representatives from our Governing Board. Ideally, new representatives will join who are parents, union representatives, teachers and classified staff from school sites, community members, and more.
The Advisory Committee will meet several times from August 2025 – April 2026 and be charged with making recommendations to the Board in April or May 2026 about the JESD budget, program, and facilities with a long-term outlook in mind.
All decisions will be made only after careful analysis and recommendations from the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and a Board of Education review and vote. We will share more information about this year-long process as it develops on this webpage. We are committed to transparency and supporting our students and staff.
