Staff and parents at Fernando Rivera School work together with students to develop educated and productive citizens by providing excellence in academic and elective programs; fostering positive social and emotional development; ensuring an environment that is supportive, safe, and mutually respectful; and promoting academic success, self esteem, self discipline, responsibility, and independence.

Instruction is grounded in the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, with students actively driving their learning—engaging in thinking, discussion, and problem solving. Teachers intentionally design lessons where students have choices in how they learn and demonstrate understanding, supporting growth through access, engagement, and meaningful participation.
