Welcome to a new school year at Fernando Rivera! It's hard to believe that the summer break is over and we are beginning a brand new school year. I am excited about the upcoming year and look forward to working with each of you to make this a year of high academic achievements achievement but with lots of fun and enriching activities for the students. This will be a year focused on student learning, teacher and staff dedication, and strong parent and community involvement.

I would like to introduce our new vice principal, Dina Conti. Ms. Conti has many years of experience in education, including teaching, coaching, and administration. She is very excited about being a part of the Fernando Rivera staff and is looking forward to working with the students, staff, and community. We have a new counselor this year also, her name is Venise Evangelista, Ms. Evangelista is looking forward to working with the students here too and is doing her best to ensure that all of the students here at FR have a successful intermediate school experience and leave FR prepared for high school. Also, we have a new teacher joining us this year. Please help me welcome Rozanna Zetzer ( PE and 7th grade math).

The new school year is a special time for your child to make a fresh start. The staff members at Fernando Rivera are high qualified and work collaboratively to provide the students with an excellent educational program and are committed to helping each student reach their full academic potential. We would like your child to work hard to achieve academic excellence, develop strong bonds with peers and staff, and to be involved in extracurricular activities. Middle school is a memorable experience and students should take advantage of all that Fernando has to offer.

The best way to ensure your child's success in middle school is to become involved in their education. Often our middle school student tell their parents that they don't want them to be as involved as they were in elementary school. But the fact is, middle school can be a challenging time and the children need your help more than ever! Please talk to your child about classroom and school-wide activities. Review their homework assignments in the Binder Reminder every evening. Attend school functions like Back to School Night on September 20th. Visit our campus and your child's classes, become active in the PTSA, or become a school volunteer. There are many ways to be involved!
