Jefferson School District Board Goals

Student Achievement
The Board will understand, review and share data about student achievement.
The Board will advocate for and support programs that increase student achievement, especially for underperforming groups of students who are below grade level.
The Board will ensure that students who meet or exceed standards will continue to do so.

Fiscal Responsibility and Solvency
The Board will be well informed about all budget matters.
The Board will adopt balanced budgets that preserve the District’s financial integrity.
The Board will be united in maintaining a balanced budget.

Safe, Positive Learning Environments
The Board will advocate strongly for safe, positive learning environments.
The Board will continue to update its Board Policies that address issues such as disaster planning, safety, bullying, zero tolerance, etc.

Professional Development
The Board will stay informed about and attend professional development activities designed for Board members; Board members who attend such sessions will report back and share their learnings with other Board members.
The Board will allocate resources for staff to participate in professional development activities that are aligned with district priorities.
The Board will carefully review the District’s annual professional development plan.

Informing and Involving the Community
The Board will be highly visible in the schools and community to promote the district goals and to share success stories.
The Board will use the District’s website to post important information/messages.
The Board will praise successful programs and activities.
The Board’s representative to the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) will communicate about the District’s goals, challenges and successes.
