SPIRIT DAY: Wear Red or Pink in celebration for Valentine's/Friendship Day
The Ruby Bridges Committee made up of 4th and 5th grade students are helping spread the word and organize this event.
Why do we celebrate Ruby Bridges?
At the tender age of six, Ruby Bridges advanced the cause of civil rights in November 1960 when she became the first African American student to integrate an elementary school in the South. Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day (RBWTSD) is the perfect opportunity to teach children about the civil rights movement and make connections to today's collective efforts for change. RBWTSD gives children the opportunity to celebrate Ruby's courage by walking to school.
Parent Volunteers
We need some parent volunteers to help with our annual Ruby Bridges Recognition Walk. If you can help out, please let your child's teacher know. Also we sent a permission slip home last week. Please sign and return to your child's teacher no later than Wednesday of this week.
