School Safety

Child safety is a priority at Woodrow Wilson School. We need the support of families neighbors, and community to make it work!

Walking to School

We encourage all families to walk their children to school and avoid traffic congestion. Please use the crosswalks at each intersection! We are fortunate to have the Daly City Police Department provide assistance when crossing the busy intersection at John Daly Boulevard.

Drop-off and Pick-up Zones

The white zones on Santa Barbara and Miriam Streets are designated as the two drop-off/pick-up zones. When letting your child out of the car, be sure to have them exit on the curbside. U-turns and parking in the crosswalks are illegal. Unfortunately, our school site parking lot is small and is therefore reserved for staff only.

Emergency Preparedness

Staff and students regularly practice emergency drills including fire, earthquake, and intruder drills. Each year we also participate in the district wide disaster drill.

Fire Drill Signal: Klaxon Horn sounded at repeated intervals

Disaster Drill Signal: Long continuous bell

Hold and Secure Drill Signal: 5 five-second bells

Emergency Forms

Every child must have a completed emergency form. All necessary phone numbers and names of adults who have permission to pick up the student must be included. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to update this information.

Campus Supervision

The playground and school yard are monitored by several staff members during arrival, recesses, and dismissal times. We welcome parent volunteers to provide support during morning and lunch recesses. All campus visitors are required to check in at the office and to wear a visitor's tag.

Safe Environment

Woodrow Wilson School is a place where students and staff are able to learn and teach without the threat of physical and/or psychological harm. We emphasize student responsibility and respect towards themselves and others.
