PUBLIC HEARING
 
1.      JSD’s Initial Contract Proposal to AFT, Local 3267, for the 2009-2012 School Years
Public Hearing to receive public input on the Initial Contract Proposal by JSD for 2009-2012 School Years on Article II - Wages, Article III – Hours of Employment, Calendar, Article VI – Health and Welfare, and Article X – Class Size.
 
2.      JSD’s Sunshine and Counter Proposal to CSEA, Chapter 233, for the 2009-2010 School Year
Reopen negotiations on Article 5 - Wages, Article 6 – Health & Welfare Benefits, and Article 17.4 - School Calendar.
I.      GENERAL FUNCTIONS - Matteo Rizzo
 
         1.   Consent Agenda.........................Action (V)
            The Administration recommends approval of the starred (*) items on the rest of the agenda.
 
         2.   * Joint Powers Agreement.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends approval of providing services of Jeff Torres to San Bruno Park Elementary (SBPE) from August 2009 through June 2010 for the following: provide professional Adaptive Physical Education services; develop, write and implement comprehensive Individual Educational Plans for special education students; perform a variety of professional services including consultations, observations, evaluations, written reports with goals/objectives, and IEP meetings; perform other duties as assigned. SBPE will pay JESD 50% of Jeff Torres’ salary, benefits, and indirect costs from the District’s salary schedule. JESD will invoice SBPE on a semester basis for services performed.
 
         3.   Measure A Election Report.........................Discussion/Action (D) (V)
Members of the Measure A Campaign Steering Committee will report on the May 5 polling data for the funding measure for our District and the other districts within our county.
 
II.    BUSINESS & FINANCIAL PROCEDURES - Enrique Navas
 
         1.   * Approval of Warrants.........................Action (C)
            General Fund Warrants totaling $248,452.31.
 
         2.   * Milk Contract For 2009-2012.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends approval of a contract with Foster Farms Dairy as the only bidder for milk for 2009-2012.  A summary bid sheet is attached.
 
         3.   Budget Update/Cuts..........................Action (V)
            The Administration will present an update on the budget.
 
III.   CERTIFICATED PERSONNEL - Jan Hopkins
 
         1.   * Hire Summer School 2009 Substitute Teachers..........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends hiring the following teachers for summer school substitutes 2009 at the rate of $130 per day:  KAREN CARDENAS, KELLEY CHAWKE, BRANDEE MATTOS, MARY ECHO, ELIZABETH O’NEILL, JOVITA MELGAR, THERESA MATELLI, and BEVERLIE LEANO-TORRES.
 
         2.   * Certificated Leave of Absence..........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends approval of a Leave of Absence request for Maternity/Unpaid Child Care Leave for the 2009-2010 school year received from:  REBECCA BRICKHILL, Kindergarten teacher, M.P. Brown School.
 
IV.    CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL - Jan Hopkins
 
         1.   Retirement - Classified Employees.........................Action (V)
The Administration recommends approval of the retirement requests from CECILIA CORDON, School Secretary, TE, effective 6/19/09, and RODOLFO CORDON, Custodian I, FR, effective 6/30/09, and requests that appropriate resolutions be prepared commending them for their years of service to the District.  Mrs. Cordon and Mr. Cordon have been employed by the District since 11/12/96, and 11/13/96, respectively.
 
         2.   Resignation - Classified Employee.........................Action (V)
The Administration recommends approval of the following resignation for the purpose of retirement from the following classified employee and requests an appropriate resolution be prepared commending her for her years of service to the District:  JOAN MURPHY, Library Aide, Franklin D. Roosevelt, effective 6/12/09.  Mrs. Murphy has been employed by the District since 4/17/95.

         3.   * Employment - Classified Personnel.........................Action (C)
            The Administration recommends approval of employment of the following classified employees:

            The Administration recommends approval of the following donation:
