1.      Improving Education for California’s Kids
Californians for Improved School Funding is proposing an initiative to amend the California Constitution so that special taxes for local school districts, commonly known as parcel taxes, can be approved by a 55-percent vote of the qualified electors. This initiative, known as the Local Control of Local Classrooms Funding Act, would let communities raise operating funds for their local schools with a 55-percent "yes" vote, provided the accountability and disclosure requirements included in the initiative are met.
 
2.      2010 JESD Science Fair
Brian Allen and Carrie Baesler, Science Fair Facilitators, will give a presentation on the 2010 JESD Science Fair as well as acknowledge the winners of the 2010 JESD Science Fair and the participants in the County Science Fair.

         2.   * Facility Use Permit Extension for Crossroads Christian Center at Colma ES….Action (C)
The Administration recommends Board approval for an extension of the Facility Use Permit issued to Crossroads Christian Center at Colma ES for an additional three years, ending on April 30, 2013.
 
         3.   * Facility Use Permit Extension for Jesus Christ Is Lord Church at Martin Luther King Education Center, District Office Complex.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends Board approval for an extension of the Facility Use Permit issued to Jesus Christ Is Lord Church at Martin Luther King Education Center, District Office complex, for an additional three years, ending on February 28, 2013.
 
         4.   * Project Management Consulting Services for Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) Program.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends that the Board authorize entering into an agreement with Jeff Rios dba JR Consulting Services LLC., in the amount of $38,000 for project management services related to the Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) Program for the District. The District may file and be eligible for 50% reimbursement of the consulting fees from the MAA Program.
 
III.   CERTIFICATED PERSONNEL - Jan Hopkins
 
         1.   * Certificated Resignation 2009-2010.........................Action (C)
            The Administration recommends acceptance of the following resignations:
JESSICA MAY, Speech Teacher, F.D. Roosevelt School, currently on leave of absence, resignation effective January 29, 2010. Ms. May has been employed in the District since January 6, 2009.
MARGARET WONG, Speech Teacher, Pre-School, currently on leave of absence, resignation effective January 21, 2010. Ms. Wong has been employed in the District since April 28, 2006.
 
         2.   * Hire Certificated Personnel 2009-2010.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends hiring the following Certificated Teachers for the 2009-2010 school year:
NERIUS MERCADO, 5th grade teacher, Daniel Webster School, Temporary Status, effective February 1, 2010, CLS1A - Step 6, Pro-rated $22,497.15.
CHRISTINA FACER, Speech Teacher, Woodrow Wilson School, increase in FTE from .4 to .6 effective January 4, 2010.
 
         3.   * Hire Certificated Substitute Teachers 2009-2010.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends hiring the following substitute teachers for the 2009-2010 school year at the rate of $130 per day: KENDRA HODGES, CHUNG LEUNG, TINA LANEY, JAMIE IULIANO, JULIE SMITH, MARIAH DICKERSON, and SOFIA NEW.
 
         4.   * Family Leave of Absence 2009-2010.........................Action (C)
The Administration recommends acceptance of a request for a Family Leave of Absence received from: JENNIFER LAROCQUE, Principal, Thomas Edison School, effective January 29, 2010 through February 12, 2010.
 
 
         5.   * Saint Mary’s College of California – Student Teacher Placement Agreement....Action (C)
The Administration recommends approval of the Student Teacher Placement Agreement between Saint Mary’s College of California and the Jefferson Elementary School District for the term of August 2009 through August 2010.
